Whew! I've had so much going on the last couple of weeks, it's a relief to do a simple garden post today. The weather has been fantastic, and the plants in the garden have responded in kind.

So just to catch everyone up. Here's a little time lapse of the garden's progress.Not bad. In less than a year, we've gone from weeded mess, to a cute little garden with some lush lilies, pretty dahlias, and a garden gnome named Norm.

Speaking of Norm.
I had to move him from behind the lily to in front of it, because it has outgrown him. Norm seems to have shrunk. I'm afraid the garden might swallow him if I'm not careful.
The newest additions to the garden are three large and healthy spicebushes. Yay! For those who have followed my garden updates from the beginning, back in Florida, I really wanted a spicebush but had to settle for a cute little Sassafras tree to host my Spicebush Swallowtails instead.
Now I officially have Spicebushes. We'll see how many caterpillars will make them home.
The thing I'm having trouble with now is finding some milkweed for the monarchs. I swear the people up here look at me like I have a screw loose when I tell them I want to plant some plain violets and milkweed. In my observation, the people of Ohio are always looking for something more exotic than what they have in their own back yards.
But I've never seen more pretty gardens than the ones I've seen here.
I guess it is a grass on the other side of the fence thing. Everyone in Ohio really wants to be in Florida. Well, I've done both, and I think I like it right here.
Now give me some milkweed.
That's all from the garden for now!
Happy reading, everyone!

What a cool garden, Jess!
Yes, I do understand that whirlwind feeling! My SFR, Forbidden Love had an early release this week.
And Laurie is doing a launch party this evening at the Brigade.
(It's so sad about Linnea Sinclair's mother that it places a shadow over everything right now though.)
Yeah, my deepest sympathies to her.
Congratulations! I'll try to stop by to show my support.
I think Norm looks more gnome-sized now. AFter all, they're supposed to be little guys. {SMILE}
